Why do I Burn ONLY Gourmet Soy-Veg Candles?
Well, some people have horror stories ...
Dramatic tales of black jars
Blackened walls
Clouds of smoke filling their home
Warnings from the a/c guy
or their kid's doctor
asthma, allergies, choking ...
Not me.
My own "awakening" was much more subtle. (I was a slow learner.)
Candles Candles Everywhere
All my life I've adored candles, but wasn't a candle buff. Just bought 'em if they smelled good. And didn't cost much.
Gradually, though, it dawned on my that my "cheapie" candles didn't usually smell so good once I got them home.
Especially once I lit them.
Didn't burn very evenly.
And, of course, left a lot of black gunk.
When I finally saw I was getting what I paid for, I moved on to "pricey" candles.
They burned slightly more evenly, but their fragrances disappointed me.
They also left quite a bit of black stuff. But I didn't know it could get any better.
I later tried some all-soy candles.
Here's what I learnded about them (100% soy, that is)...
Burned much cleaner, but their fragrances were wimpy. And, in my experience, the scent mostly disappeared right away.
And Then Came These
A friend recommended a Soy/Vegetable Gourmet candle. My little girl and I could smell the wonderful scents before we even got the package open!
The incredible, RICH fragrances outlasted all the others.
NO comparison!
And lasted to the very bottom of the jar. They burned evenly all the way down (2 wicks to a jar).
And not a speck of black!
But, being on the frugal side (OK, cheap!) and not really "getting" it ...yet... I continued to use up my other candles. You know, didn't want to "waste" 'em.
Only slowly (I'm embarrassed to admit how slowly) did I realize, "Hmm, these other candles really are putting off a lot of smoke!"
Candle Heaven ...
I thought my other candles were pretty clean, until I tried truly clean-burning candles.
I'd been only vaguely aware of the smoky haze in the room, the slight choking feeling, the black on the jars. Because that was my normal candle experience.
When I finally "saw the light", I got rid of those other candles.
'Cuz now I'm too spoiled to burn ANY but these!
Know anyone who might want to risk getting spoiled?
